Hello

My Name is Betty, and I make things. Yes, is an addiction.

I’ve always made things since I was in high school or probably earlier. As a young girl I was in 4H and made a skirt, like everyone else. My mother taught me to sew for real when I was about 13-14, and I’ve been sewing ever since. I’ve sewed everything from my clothes, my kids clothes, curtains and draperies. I even made my husband a suit and he word it more than once!

I never really got much further than sewing when I was in school and after I had kids. I tried knitting, but it just took too long. I did not have that much patience. I absolutely cannot crochet.

In the day, I tried decoupage. I tried other crafts. But I always went back to sewing.

I thought sewing was both a blessing and a curse. When I sewed, time would pass and I would not know it. Sewing something and working through each step, figuring out how to do something and finally putting it all together was fulfilling. Having something new to wear that was really beautiful and made for me was exciting. It did, however, take time away from my family.

Then I discovered I could make jewelry. Well, this became it for me. I could not get enough. There were so many different types of jewelry to learn to make. I wanted to learn all of them. I even wanted to have my own business selling jewelry. I loved the precision and detail of beadweaving. I love how wire wrapping a gemstone or piece of glass in wire shows its beauty. I love using a torch and soldering metal together. I discovered enamelling on copper and truly enjoyed putting color to metal. There’s nothing about jewelry making I don’t like except for wire weaving around a cabochon. For me, the weaving competes too much with the beauty of the stone, and your eye does not know where to look first.

So on these pages, you will find pictures of the jewelry I’ve made and am making. Occasionally, I may put up a picture of something else I did. Some of it is sold, or given to a charity auction, or given to friends, and some of it will be for sale. Please enjoy the pictures. I would appreciate your comments and will read and respond to each of them.

Thank you for reading my confession.

One thing I love is to mix metals – in this case copper and gold color metals.
